The Sheriff 's Office is comprised of the Administration, Corrections and Enforcement Operation Bureaus. The Sheriff’s Office delivers public safety to the residents of Monterey County by providing 24-hour uniformed patrol, investigations, custody services, court security, and law enforcement support.
The Corrections Operations Bureau is seeking an experienced Administrative Operations Manager to oversee the Sheriff’s Office fleet and projects related to jail facility infrastructure. The incumbent will identify projects impacting jail operations and collaborate with respective stakeholders to ensure said projects are completed; manage complex maintenance problems by identifying solutions and implementing changes as needed; manage the Sheriff’s fleet utilization and rotation of fleet for replacement through the vehicle replacement program; and supervise, train, and evaluate the work of assigned staff.
The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable leader with an understanding of correctional operations and has the administrative capabilities to manage a complex and challenging environment within a jail facility. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be detail oriented and capable of adhering to multiple deadlines. Work may involve coming in contact with incarcerated people.

Examples of Duties
Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates assigned services area(s) and activities in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and ordinances.
Develops goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities within assigned service area, coordinates activities with other County Departments, outside entities and other agencies.
Assess need for Department facility workspace, identify appropriate facilities for acquisition and negotiate leases, oversee space utilization planning and maintenance of assets.
Prepares plan proposals, cost estimates, and justifications for budget recommendations; monitors and controls expenditures to ensure the accomplishment of objectives within approved budget.

Four years or more of progressively responsible experience in public administration or business administration, in areas such as personnel, administrative analysis, contract administration, and facility management, and equivalent of two (2) years of full-time supervisory experience in a direct or lead role.

The County of Monterey is accepting applications to fill Management Analyst II vacancies in the Sheriff’s Office, Health Department and Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office.Sheriff’s Office: The Corrections Operations Bureau is seeking an individual who will be responsible for the development, data collection, analyses, and reporting requirements for all incarcerated persons’ grievances and complaints related to the safety, care, and custody of incarcerated persons. The incumbent functions as an independent entity to serve as an Ombudsperson or Special Advisor on sensitive and/or critical issues relating to the Monterey County Jail and works collaboratively with Jail Executive Management Staff to resolve issues to increase the safety and security of the Monterey County Jail, the public, and the incarcerated population. This position is responsible for conducting confidential interviews with incarcerated persons, attorneys, staff, families, and the public; maintains confidential records; works closely with Jail Management Team and County Counsel to protect the Sheriff’s Office from potential litigation; and may testify in court, deposition or other official hearings to explain Ombudsperson services.The ideal candidate will have a strong computer systems and applications knowledge, background in conflict resolution, inmate advocacy, and correctional facility operations. Relays information by telephone or radio, on individuals and vehicles, to officers in the field; and confirms warrant information to field officers for service.
Reviews warrants, other court and legal documents to verify that information in accordance with applicable regulations, laws, and procedures.
Transcribes and prepares sensitive reports dealing with highly emotional and often traumatic events.
Updates information on the status of warrants, seals and purges records in compliance with court orders and state statutes, code citations, accidents, and other reports according to Uniform Crime Reporting standards.

Compiles and prepares a variety of annual, quarterly and monthly reports.
