On March 23rd, 2026, at about 11:16 am, multiple Deputies from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 19000 Block of Wild Pinto Way in Prunedale for a report of two missing two-year-old twins. It was reported by a family member that the children had not been seen for about 30 minutes and were nowhere to be found inside and outside of their residence.
Upon the deputies' arrival, a search of the inside of the house was conducted, and the children were not located. The deputies began a systematic search of the rural neighborhood in high heat conditions, including a heavy brush area near the home. In addition to the multiple deputies, the California Highway Patrol assisted, and drone units from the Salinas Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office were also called to the scene.
After about 30 minutes of searching the nearby area, deputies located the twins about 1-mile from the residence in a wooded area. They were accompanied by their family dog. It is believed the children followed the family dog away from their home.
In a tense event that could have had different results, the children were uninjured, happy, healthy, and reunited with their family. We are thankful for the quick response of our deputies and our fellow law enforcement partners at CHP and Salinas PD for the assistance they provided in helping to safely locate these children.
