Instructions for Completing the Application
Fill out the top portion of the application completely.
Please be sure to include a phone number.
If you wish to mail your application, please remember to include the release form and a photo copy of a current and valid ID (Minors need to attach a copy of a parent/guardian ID as well).
Choose a specific date (01/15/2015 as opposed to “any Monday or Saturday”).
Choose a specific time from the scheduled shifts below
Central Station
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM / 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM
Coastal Station
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM / 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM
South County Station
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM / 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM
Requirements
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Ride-Along Program is offered to residents, students and those employed within the county. Every attempt will be made to accommodate interested persons; however, any applicant may be disqualified without cause. The following factors may be considered in disqualifying an applicant and are not limited to:
Must be at least 16 years of age
Minors must have a release form signed by parent/guardian
Must be in good health
Must dress neatly and conservatively
No firearms, cameras or recording devices will be allowed
May participate in only ONE ride every 6 months
Must drink no alcoholic beverages prior to riding
Sign Liability Waiver prior to riding
Prior criminal history
Pending criminal action
Pending lawsuit against the Office
Denial by any supervisor
Other Notes
Attendance at briefing is at the discretion of the Patrol Supervisor
You should bring money for meal breaks.
Dress appropriately for variations in weather.
No weapons, cameras or recording devices allowed
You will not receive a phone call from this office unless your application has been denied.
Ride-Alongs are eight (8) hours long – if you can only ride a portion of the eight (8) hours, you must begin your ride at the start of the shift.
Every attempt will be made to return you to the office at the end of your Ride-Along should this be prior to the end of the eight (8) hours. Please be aware, however, that you may be required to ride past time if the Deputy is involved in a call that will not allow you to be returned to the office.
If your date and time has already been taken you will be required to pick another date before you submit your application. Please indicate from which office you wish to ride. After your application has been submitted, please plan on arriving five (5) minutes prior to your ride time on the date scheduled.
