On June 29, 2025, at about 1332 hours, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 18000 block of Vierra Canyon Road, Prunedale, on a report of a suspicious person prowling in the area.

While responding, deputies learned the suspect had broken into an occupied residence. The homeowner confronted the suspect, who was armed with a hammer, and wrestled the hammer away. The suspect then fled.

Deputies, with the assistance from the California Highway Patrol, saturated the area and received numerous reports of a white male with long hair jumping fences. Deputies spotted the suspect leaving the area in a white van which was later found to be stolen from another nearby residence.

The suspect was located circling the 76 gas station parking lot (1040 El Camino Real N). Deputies initiated a traffic stop but the suspect failed to yield, leading deputies on a short vehicle pursuit. The van sustained a flat tire before the suspect drove into a bush, at the end of Reese Circle, and fled on foot. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS)

“No one should face an intruder in their home. I’m grateful for the homeowner’s courage, our deputies’ quick work, and CHP’s assistance in keeping our community safe,” said Sheriff Tina Nieto.

Nobody was injured during this incident.

Lipska was booked into the Monterey County Jail on the following charges:

  • 459 PC Burglary (Felony)

  • 10851(a) CVC Vehicle Theft (Felony)
