The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Re-Entry Resource Center. The event was held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday April 8th, 2025, at the Monterey County Jail located at 1410 Natividad Road in Salinas, California.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is constructing a Re-Entry Resource Center at the Monterey County Jail site that will provide essential services to individuals transitioning from incarceration, helping them reintegrate into the community by offering resources such as employment training, counseling, housing support, and legal assistance. This is a key part of our commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and reducing recidivism rates within our community.
Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto stated, “We will be able to work side by side with all these different agencies in one location to help those who are transitioning from incarceration into our society.”
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $5,000,000 in CalAIM JI Grant Round 3 funds. An additional $1.66 million dollars has been allocated and approved as part of the FY 2024-2025 approved budget to help complete this project.
Construction on the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Re-Entry Resource Center is scheduled to begin the week of April 14th, 2025. This project is estimated to be completed by May 30th, 2025, with a targeted opening date of July 1st, 2025.
