On Sunday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 10:15 PM, Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence on the 9000 Block of Prunedale South Road, Prunedale. A tenant living on the same property called 9-1-1 after hearing a violent altercation occurring inside the home.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male adult victim, identified as Raul Sandoval Sr., suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Sandoval Sr. was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
The subsequent investigation determined that the victim’s son, Raul Sandoval Jr., was involved in a physical altercation with his father that escalated into a fatal stabbing. Sandoval Jr. surrendered to deputies at the scene without incident and was taken into custody.
Raul Sandoval Jr. was transported and booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of homicide and elder abuse. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.
