The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery that occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank Branch located at 26600 Carmel Center Place in Carmel, California.

At about 4:40 PM, on Friday May 9th, 2025, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call of a possible armed robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank. It was reported that multiple suspects entered the bank believed to be armed with handguns. The suspects were last seen fleeing the area in a red vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money. The first deputy arrived within minutes and located a suspicious vehicle matching the description. It was determined to be unoccupied.

Reports were received of suspicious persons running towards Carmel Middle School. As a precaution, the campus was directed to go into secured campus procedures. With the assistance of Carmel P.D., Seaside P.D., California State Parks, Salinas P.D., and California Highway Patrol along with CHP’s H-70 helicopter, an extensive search was conducted at the mouth of Carmel Valley, the Carmel Riverbed and areas in and around the Wells Fargo Bank and Carmel Middle School. Suspects were not located. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is confirming that there is no active threat to the community of Carmel or Carmel Middle School.

One customer sustained minor injuries during this incident and was treated at the scene by Fire and Ambulance personnel.

There is no further information at this time.
