On December 16, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Monterey County Sheriff's deputies, along with MCSO K9 Rocket, arrested Martin Valle Jr. 39 in the area of Washington and McDougall Streets in Castroville following the discovery of a large quantity of suspected heroin and cocaine.
Deputies contacted Valle during a probation compliance check after observing him walking in nearby agricultural fields. Valle, who is on active probation, was detained. A subsequent search was conducted of the area where Valle was contacted. With assistance of California Highway Patrol K9 unit, a discarded grey plastic bag containing approximately 2.09 pounds of a brown tar-like substance was found. The substance field-tested positive for heroin. A small clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine was also recovered nearby.

Penal Code 135 – Destroying or concealing evidence
