The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update on recent search operations, including efforts related to missing U.S. Army Specialist Amanpreet Thind.
Our priority during all search and rescue missions is to ensure that families receive accurate updates directly from officials before any information is shared with the media or public. This process protects the integrity of the operation and respects the families involved.
Search efforts continue this morning, November 26th, 2025, in coordination with local and state partners to ensure that proper resources are deployed safely and effectively. We extend our sincere appreciation to all emergency personnel and volunteers who have dedicated countless hours to this and last week’s search operations. Their work is driven solely by duty, responsibility, and service to the community.
On Tuesday November 25th, 2025, search efforts resumed for Amanpreet Thind. Water conditions at Soberanes Point improved and allowed for the first in-water searches to take place by both the Monterey County Sheriff’s Dive Team and California State Parks Rescue Swimmers. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Air Support Unit was also able to conduct aerial search operations, along with drones from California State Parks and Cal Fire.
The Incident Commander for search operations and the Thind Family have been in contact with private diver, Juan Heredia, who has confirmed that he will be responding to Soberanes Point today, November 26th, 2025, to work alongside the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team in their efforts to locate Amanpreet Thind. Additional resources are being provided by California State Parks.
We remind the public that independent search efforts in active search zones are not permitted, as doing so can create safety hazards and lead to the release of premature or inaccurate information.
We ask everyone to please exercise care when sharing information or commentary on social media as sensitive posts can cause additional harm to grieving families. This helps to ensure families receive timely and dignified notifications from authorized officials involved in the search efforts for their loved ones.
